Žiga Stanič

, born 1973, in Ljubljana, is a Slovenian composer, pianist, educator, Ph. D. in music theory, since 2002 music producer for the Slovenian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra.
His musical style is based on a postmodern variety, polystylism, mixed aleatorics, often performed by prepared musical instruments and with unconventional extended techniques that tend towards an anti-dramatic expression of the absurd, e.g. his antiopera The Bald Singer.

As a means of expression he uses orchestral onomatopoeia, found in his Piano concerto, chamber music and also in the concerto for Neanderthal flute (Divje babe flute), oldest instrument in the world. Stanič composed several compositions to help promoting this special archaeological find.

His works are performed internationally. He performs most of his piano music himself.
