Autmn fairytales for zither consist of nine short pieces, devoted to young zither players. Zither, most commonly found in the regions of alpine Europe, was once one of the most popular instruments in Slovenia, and that is why majority of slovenian compositions for zither consist of folk-like tunes. The present collection of nine "fairytales" was composed as an answer to the call for newly composed zither scores. It fills up the void on the field of didactical, technically less demanding music for this instrument, and was made upon a suggestion from Irena Zdolšek, slovenian zither player. Nine fairytales for zither represent a revised and expanded version of a homonymous work, composed for the same musician a decade ago (2004). Individual pieces summarize melodic and characteristic patterns of different nations, they are named after.
