»Crossing« is the first of twelve movements of Spring Suite, for violin and piano by Žiga Stanič. The actual recorded version is performed by world-renowned violinist Stefan Milenkovich and Žiga Stanič. In total, Spring Suite merges polystylistic and aleatoric music, combining the sonority of prepared piano and extended techniques on the violin. In many parts technically demanding texture begins with the »Crossing« movement, starting with idyllic romantic approach and gradually takes the postmodern musical style, which is radicalized in the following movements. The encompassing musical tale, which reminds us also of months or year seasons, is rounded in the last movement: it ends at the same spot as it has begun the first movement: the sweet major chord shadow. As the suite could be repeated over and over again at this point, the first movement holds the name »Crossing«.
